David & Lauren are Engaged!

The blog has been a little quiet lately, but I’m doing my best to work through some sessions and get them up here for you to see! I wanted to share this one in particular because it feels like we haven’t had an engagement session in while. And well, because it’s such a great shoot!

I was so excited when Lauren and David contacted us about being their wedding photographers! Lauren and I grew up in the same circles of friends and sang together in a choir around the end of high school. We even had a fun trip to Wales that summer! It’s always great to see where peoples’ lives take them. Lauren’s took her a little further down the musical path and brought her to the music program at Kings University College, where she met David, who also shares her passion for music. These two musicians were a ton of fun to photograph and never stopped just being themselves and having fun. It’s such a joy to photograph couples who can be themselves in front of our cameras!

It seemed appropriate that we spend some time at Kings, and then we visited the river valley in David’s childhood neighbourhood. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed taking them!

Evan & Ria are Married!

I can’t believe it’s the end of July already! There are so many beautiful weddings this time of year and I’ve been enjoying every one. Evan & Ria’s wedding was on a beautiful Friday afternoon at St. John Bosco Parish with their reception being held at the Chateau Louis hotel. I met Evan & Ria through their cousin, Christine, whose wedding I photographed 3 years ago. It was great to see some of the same family again and catch up with Ashton & Christine 3 years later!

It was a great day filled with cultural traditions and lots of laughs at the reception. One of the groomsmen even got us into the municipal airport to spend a few minutes with a private jet! It literally was just a few minutes, but it was fun to do something a little different, despite the short time frame. Some of the highlights of the reception were definitely the beautifully designed sweet tables and a first dance song performed by Christine.

Thanks for my second shooter for the day, Mariusz Sikorski, and a big thanks to Evan & Ria for letting us be a part of their day!

Great shots! I love the ones in the big white gazebo and that shot of her in the ceremony with all the light on her face. Awesome job!

Brent & Nikki Celebrate!

The first time Nikki contacted me regarding her wedding celebration at Pigeon Lake I thought that the event sounded like a pretty good time. Turns out I was right!

Brent & Nikki became man and wife back in September while on a trip to Vegas, at 5am to be precise:). When they got home they began to plan a fun weekend for their family and friends to gather and celebrate their marriage. I happen to think that they pulled this off splendidly and I had a great time capturing all of the little details of the day, as well as some portraits for the newly weds and then a reception absolutely packed with funny moments!

Thanks to Brent & Nikki for inviting me to join the party, and a big thanks to my second shooter, Matt Ramage, for joining me from Saskatoon!

Fashion & Boudoir at The Beauty Lounge

Hello all! So we’re into wedding season here, and yet I find myself exploring new creative avenues because, well, it’s a lot of fun. I had been planning to do a shoot with the Beauty Lounge for quite some time now, so it was great to finally put everything together. We used several locations in and around the building and had clothing provided by Jessica Halabi and Sweet Carousel Corsetry, two designers that I have been wanting to photograph for quite some time! Thanks to the Beauty Lounge for providing hair and makeup and to Cara for being such a fantastic model!

Chad & Samantha are Married!

Tim and I have a few things that we’d like to think we’ve got down to a science when it comes to photographing weddings…and we’d like to think that one of those things is small town Alberta weddings. As we were both raised in this province, we have a love for it that seems to only come from belonging to somewhere and having it belong to you. We have built routines around shooting small town weddings and they bring back memories of previous weddings in other towns. To us, this is one of the best parts of the experience. We sit in a small town diner, or an A&W, or a Tim Hortons and shovel large amounts of unhealthy food into our mouths as we plan for the day ahead.

So this is how we started the day at Chad & Samantha’s beautiful Alberta wedding on the May long in Hinton. There were so many little details about this wedding that were so fun and so much hard work was put into them. It was also fantastic to be out in nature with a view of the mountains out in the distance. We were also surrounded by lots of great people and the joy that turns a ceremony into a celebration.

I think the rest is self explanatory…well, that and you’ve got almost 50 photos to tell you the story much better than my words could. Thanks to Chad & Samantha for putting together such a beautiful day, and for inviting us to be a part of it!
